UAW is proud to present Earthen Plot which brings together artists whose practices are rooted—physically, spiritually, or intuitively—in the conditions of place. Selected by UAW founder Helen Toomer from over 200 participants in Open Studios by UAW, this exhibition, hosted at UAW’s HQ in Kingston, of 37 artists considers how creative practices both nurture and unsettle relationships to land, material, and present conditions.
Across sculpture, painting, installation, and more ephemeral forms, the works trace connections between body and terrain, cultivation and extraction, intimacy and scale. Together, they reveal the many ways artists relate to their surroundings—whether in harmony, tension, or quiet observation.
The artists included are Adie Russell, Alicia Genevieve Mikles, Alison Owen, Amelia Biewald, Amelia Toelke, Amy Talluto, Andrea Loefke, Amy Yoes, Ann B. Murphy, Ashley Lyon, Bob Szantyr, Carolyn Sheehan, Catrin Perih, Christine Domanic, Deb Lawrence, Gossamer Rozen, Jane Orr, Jesse Bransford, Jon Beer, Judith Hoyt, Kate Steciw, Katherine Burger, Kathy Ruttenberg, Lala Abaddon, Leonor Mendoza, Lexa Walsh, Manju Shandler, Marco Crocchianti, Margaret Cogswell, Melissa Dadourian, Nadia Martinez, Natalie Baxter, Nicole Helen Brunner, Ransome, Sarah E.
